Fitting Instructions

The following fitting instructions are suitable for inclusion with your Espresso Lane UK replacement steam valve.

Important safety notice

Always switch off and unplug the espresso machine before starting work. Allow the machine to cool completely and ensure all steam pressure has been released before removing any components.

Tools required

  • Correctly sized open-ended spanner or suitable valve wrench.

  • Soft cloth to protect chrome surfaces.

  • Suitable replacement sealing washer or seal, if required by the machine version.

  • Clean cloth for wiping away any residue.

Installation procedure

1. Prepare the machine: Ensure the machine is switched off, unplugged, completely cold and depressurised.

2. Remove the existing handwheel: Carefully remove the black Bakelite handwheel and retain any fixing components that need to be reused.

3. Remove the existing steam valve: Gain access to the valve connection. Carefully remove the existing valve body from the boiler, taking care not to damage the boiler threads or surrounding chrome.

4. Prepare the replacement: Check that the replacement chrome steam valve and sealing surfaces are clean and free from damage.

5. Fit the new steam valve: Carefully screw the replacement valve into the boiler connection, ensuring the threads engage correctly. Tighten securely without excessive force.

6. Refit the handwheel: Fit the black Bakelite Elektra handwheel and badge, ensuring the handwheel is correctly positioned and operates smoothly.

7. Final inspection: Check that the steam valve opens and closes correctly and that the steam wand connection is secure.

Testing after installation

  1. Refill the machine and reconnect the power only after all components have been correctly refitted.

  2. Allow the machine to reach operating temperature.

  3. Carefully test the steam valve for correct operation.

  4. Check for any steam or water leaks around the valve body and connections.

  5. If any leakage is detected, switch off, unplug and allow the machine to cool before investigating.

Important: The Elektra 00150021 is listed as a complete, non-serviceable steam valve body. If you are not experienced with working on espresso machine boilers and pressure connections, we recommend having the replacement carried out by a qualified espresso machine technician.
